Margaret Anne FORREST (1849-1932)
Margaret Anne FORREST, was born on the 25th June 1849 and baptised on 21st August 1849 in Stirling[1]. She was the first daughter of Dr William Hutton FORREST and Margaret Thompson STEPHENSON.
Around 1890, she moved with sisters Jane and Anne to live in "Whinfield", St Margaret's Drive, Dunblane.
She died, unmarried, on 23rd September 1932 at Whinfield[2][3]. Her obituary in the Stirling Daily Sentinel read:
"Last of an Old Stirling Family--Miss Margaret Forrest who died at Whinfield, Dunblane on the 22nd. instant was the daughter of William Hutton Forrest, surgeon in Stirling, who was well known to the older generation of the inhabitants of Stirling. Miss Forrest, who was in her 84th year, was the last survivor of the family and was the oldest daughter. James, oldest son of William Hutton Forrest, qualified as a medical practitioner and for a short time assisted his father, but latterly went to the United States of America, where he died some time afterwards. Another brother, William Forrest, was a sailor and ultimately settled in New Zealand, where he died in 1930. Another brother, Andrew Stephenson Forrest, was a solicitor. He also went to New Zealand where he died some years ago. Miss Forrest went with her sisters to reside in Dunblane about 1890."[4]
